The Challenging Facts of Korean Rhinoplasty

08.07.2011 · Posted in Rhinoplasty

Korean rhinoplasty is one of most commonly performed in Korean plastic surgeries. Korean rhinoplasty is increasingly gaining popularity due to growing demands in modern society to look more beautiful and refined. People of Asian descent are opting for wide nose rhinoplasty in search of a better projected and more defined nose that still looks Asian rather than Caucasian. Often times people in the West think that Korea is some super poor country like Sudan or Laos (no offense to anyone, really) but it is actually very modern and although people do suffer economically, it is doing pretty well for such a small country. While the basic concepts of Asian or in this case Korean rhinoplasty are similar to those in the non-Asian patient, technical execution is different and more difficult.

Korean rhinoplasty can be more challenging because the cartilage of the Korean people is more fragile while the skin above it is thicker. The large majorities of people of Korean descent are seeking nasal augmentation (augmentation rhinoplasty) and/or tip enhancement. Europeans, on the other hand, generally request reduction. Many Korean patients request an increase in tip projection to lengthen the nose and lower an upward angle leading to Korean rhinoplasty. Although many Asian patients feel they may benefit the most from augmentation of the bridge and spine, people from Korea sometimes request less or none at all by Korean rhinoplasty. The desire for nostril reduction is also more frequent in Southeast Asians than it is in those from Korea. Korean rhinoplasty on nose surgery-pic7

In the Asian nose, injection rhinoplasty can raise the loose tissues of the bridge. If the nasal tip is short but not altered, however, doing this can make the nasal tip appear even shorter. Treatment and recovery are much faster than with invasive surgery, but results are usually less than amazing and fleeting (sometimes a matter of months) while recurring costs can be high. Asian noses are historically smaller, shorter with a much less defined tip compared to Caucasian noses that are much larger with thinner skin that heals better after a rhinoplasty procedure. Based on these factors Korean rhinoplasty presents a set of difficulties in the techniques utilized and is usually carried out by the best rhinoplasty surgeons whose specialty is mostly ethnic (Korean) rhinoplasty.

Korean Rhinoplasty Before After

Some of the people who already experienced the Korean rhinoplasty suggested to get the surgery in Seoul-area, preferably in rich neighborhoods/departments like Kangnam, for instance because they are definitely highly-skilled and qualified surgeons in there. This Korean rhinoplasty usually cost US$ 4.000 , but please bear in mind that the Korean rhinoplasty surgeons are used to treat ethnic Korean patients (with Korean/East Asian features) so if you are white or African – American, you also need to take that into consideration of doing Korean rhinoplasty.
